One in three people would be pushed into debt that Christmas, new research showed, and while 58% planned to take matters into their own hands, only 4% would consult a debt management agency, with many turning to loan sharks and payday lenders instead. For PayPlan, we built a broadcast PR campaign to show listeners the solutions available, from free, impartial advice to free debt management plans, and put a creditor relationship manager from PayPlan on air across a radio day of interviews. The campaign secured 22 items of radio coverage reaching 7.6 million listeners, including talkSPORT, Sky News Radio, BBC Radio Kent and BBC Radio Stoke.
PayPlan wanted to raise awareness of its services across the UK and show the solutions available to people struggling with debt.

Christmas Day falls on 25 December and marks the Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus. It is a bank holiday across the UK and the peak of the year for retail, food and family stories. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
