Pets are family: new Vets Now research found 1 in 5 Brits spend more on their pets than on some family members, and 1 in 10 will spend £100 or more on a pet this Christmas. The festive period also brings a surge in avoidable pet emergencies, and a fifth have needed emergency pet treatment over Christmas, so we built a broadcast PR campaign around keeping pets safe. We put emergency vets from Vets Now on air across a radio day of interviews, sharing simple precautions and reminding listeners that Vets Now clinics stay open 24/7 throughout the festive period. The campaign secured 8 items of radio coverage reaching 2.2 million listeners, including BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester and Greatest Hits Radio South Coast.
Vets Now wanted to raise awareness that its clinics stay open 24/7 over Christmas and help owners prevent seasonal pet emergencies.

About Christmas
Christmas Day falls on 25 December and marks the Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus. It is a bank holiday across the UK and the peak of the year for retail, food and family stories. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
