Case study · Results Day

Institute of the Motor Industry

Results day is when families start talking seriously about what comes next, and parents and teenagers were not on the same page. New research released ahead of GCSE results day found 84% of parents would choose university over an apprenticeship, while 67% of teenagers were put off university because they wanted to start earning, and half of young people had received no careers advice. We turned those findings into a broadcast PR campaign for the Institute of the Motor Industry and put the institute's chief executive on air across a radio day of interviews. The campaign secured 20 items of radio coverage reaching 2.0 million listeners, including BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC Radio Cornwall.

About Results Day

Results Day is when students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland get their exam results. In 2027, A level results are published on Thursday 12 August and GCSE results on Thursday 19 August. Colleges, universities and training providers use the week to talk about the options open to young people. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
