Case study · Results Day

Edge Foundation

With more than 600,000 pupils getting their GCSE results, it was decision time for many families, and 83% of parents worried about their child's chances of future employment. For Results Day, we helped Edge Foundation raise awareness of vocational study options for school leavers, with research showing 37% of parents believed a vocational qualification gave a better chance of success. The foundation's chief executive went on air across a radio day of interviews, pointing out that more than 335,000 people aged 25 to 35 with a vocational qualification planned to start a business within five years. The broadcast PR campaign secured 15 items of radio coverage reaching 2.0 million, including BBC Radio Essex, BBC Radio Devon and BBC Radio Lancashire.

About Results Day

Results Day is when students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland get their exam results. In 2027, A level results are published on Thursday 12 August and GCSE results on Thursday 19 August. Colleges, universities and training providers use the week to talk about the options open to young people. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
