Case study · Valentine's Day

British Heart Foundation

Over 2.6 million people in the UK were living with coronary heart disease, many without the support they needed. For the British Heart Foundation, we built a Valentine's Day broadcast PR campaign around its Valentine Appeal, which aimed to raise £1m for heart nurses and its heart information line. We put their spokesperson on air across a radio day of interviews, asking listeners to give a gift that saves lives and make 14 February a day to remember for heart patients and their families across the UK. The campaign secured 30 items of radio coverage reaching 5.8 million people, including BBC West Midlands and Tay FM.

About Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day falls on 14 February, a Sunday in 2027. As well as gifting and dating, it gives radio and TV a reason to cover relationships, money and wellbeing in the week before. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
