Case study · Men's Health Week

Boston Scientific

Up to three million UK men have urinary symptoms linked to an enlarged prostate, so for Men's Health Week we set out to get men over 50 talking. We built Boston Scientific's broadcast PR campaign around Water Vapour Therapy, a same-day treatment now in the MedTech Funding Mandate: an NHS pilot cut theatre time from 75 to 20 minutes and hospital stays from 2.8 days to four hours. A leading urologist and a patient living with benign prostate enlargement went on air across a radio day of interviews, explaining how minimally invasive treatment can ease pressure on NHS waiting lists. The campaign secured 11 items of radio coverage reaching 2.4 million listeners, including Radio News Hub.

About Men's Health Week

Men's Health Week was created by the US Congress in 1994 and went international in 2002. It runs in the week leading up to Father's Day. In the UK it is run by the Men's Health Forum, which uses it to press for better health services and outcomes for men. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
