Marie Stopes International, Summer 2007
- The aim
- Marie Stopes International wanted to win presenter endorsement as the leading sexual health expert and raise awareness of emergency contraception for holidays.
- The message
- Emergency contraception can be used up to 72 hours after unprotected sex, including when a condom splits or a pill is missed, but it should not replace a reliable regular method.
- The angle
- Research suggested sunshine makes us more likely to have a holiday romance, with 46% of men and 53% of women saying they have had one. Stations were pitched emergency contraception as something to pack, given a seasonal rise in abortions each autumn.
- The result
- 104 items of coverage (54 interviews and 50 on-air competitions) reaching 82.3 million, including BBC Radio Wales, Kerrang! 105.2, BBC West Midlands, BBC Radio Solent.
