The campaigns
The Bingo Association, National Bingo Day
The aim
The Bingo Association wanted to get listeners playing at their local club or online for National Bingo Day and win back lapsed players.
The message
National Bingo Day celebrates bingo, the people and the communities that make it fun and sociable. Over 20 million people play in the UK, and more than a third are aged 25 to 34.
The angle
To mark National Bingo Day, the National Bingo Game analysed jackpots at over 250 venues to reveal the UK's luckiest bingo cities. Cardiff topped the table with £218,000 won across 323 jackpots, while North London clubs claimed the most wins, with 598.
On air
The chief executive of The Bingo Association and the reigning Bingo Caller of the Year
The result
18 items of coverage reaching 4.4 million, including Sky News Radio, Radio News Hub, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Sussex and Surrey.
The Bingo Association wanted to celebrate National Bingo Day and encourage new and lapsed players to find their nearest participating club or online site.
The message
Bingo is a British cultural mainstay enjoyed by all ages, whether at a local club, online or in a bar, and a way to see friends, make new ones and possibly win life-changing sums.
The angle
National Bingo Day returns on 27 June, with clubs and online sites joining forces for a week of special games, events and promotions. Around three million Brits visit a local bingo club, and the first UK National Bingo Day in 2021 saw every club and over 88% of online sites take part.
On air
The current National Bingo Caller of the Year and the chief executive of The Bingo Association
The result
17 items of coverage reaching 3.9 million, including Sky News Radio, BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Radio Leeds.
National Bingo Day falls on 27 June. It began in the US, and the first UK National Bingo Day was held in 2021, led by the Bingo Association, the trade body for licensed bingo operators. Since 2024 it has sat within a wider National Bingo Week. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
