Case study · UK Coffee Week

UK Coffee Week

Few coffee drinkers know where their cup comes from: UK Coffee Week research found 21% of people drink four or more coffees a day, yet 81% did not know where their last cup came from and 70% were unaware of the water crisis facing coffee-growing communities. For UK Coffee Week, we built a broadcast PR campaign to help push fundraising for charity Project Waterfall past £1 million. UK Coffee Week and Project Waterfall spokespeople went on air across a day of radio and TV interviews, explaining how buying a coffee from a participating venue helps bring clean drinking water to coffee-growing communities. The campaign secured 10 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 1.4 million people, including GB News, BBC Radio Merseyside and BBC Radio Leeds.

About UK Coffee Week

UK Coffee Week was set up by Project Waterfall, part of The Allegra Foundation, to raise money for clean water and sanitation in coffee-growing communities. It usually took place in late April, but it was paused in 2026 and no date has been announced for 2027. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
