Case study · World Autism Acceptance Month

Tobii Dynavox

Going back to school after the Easter break can bring real anxiety for autistic children, especially for the around 30% of autistic people in the UK who are non-speaking. For World Autism Acceptance Month, we built Tobii Dynavox's broadcast PR campaign around how Augmentative and Alternative Communication tools can be life-changing, helping children take part in the classroom. We put a clinical assistive communication specialist from Tobii Dynavox on air alongside a teacher at a specialist school across a radio day of interviews. The campaign secured 7 items of radio coverage reaching 2.7 million people, including BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Radio Derby and Heart North West.

About World Autism Acceptance Month

April is marked as Autism Acceptance Month, a name the US Autism Society adopted in 2021 in place of awareness. In the UK, the National Autistic Society runs World Autism Acceptance Week in early April, and 2 April is the UN's World Autism Awareness Day. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
