Most UK men will face hair loss at some point: 85% experience balding or alopecia in their lifetime. For Hair Loss Awareness Month, we built The Private Clinic of Harley Street's broadcast PR campaign around a warning, as a black market in illegal, unqualified hair transplant surgery has spread to the UK while demand for hair restoration rose 157% between 2008 and 2019. A specialist hair transplant surgeon at the clinic went on air across a day of radio and TV interviews, explaining why choosing the right surgeon and clinic matters and how botched results can leave patients with scarring, infection and worse hair loss. The campaign secured 12 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 4.4 million people, including talkRADIO, London Live and BBC Radio London.

About Hair Loss Awareness Month
Hair Loss Awareness Month is marked in August, mainly in the US, where groups such as the American Hair Loss Association and the American Academy of Dermatology use it. It has no single founder. Clinics and brands use it to encourage people to get proper medical advice about hair loss. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
