Case study · National Chip Week

The Potato Council

Chips, singing and a good laugh with mates are three British loves, and National Chip Week brought them together. For The Potato Council, we launched the week with Chip Factor, where top chippies hosted 'auditions' and people sang for their chip suppers, alongside The Chip Report, the biggest survey of the nation's chip-eating habits, and the Sex and The Chippy survey findings. We put a relationship and dating expert on air across a radio day of interviews to get Brits enthusiastic about chips again. The broadcast PR campaign secured 22 items of radio coverage reaching 3.6 million, including Sky News Radio, BBC Radio Devon and BBC Radio Norfolk.

About National Chip Week

An annual UK week, started in the early 1990s by the Potato Council, celebrating chips and supporting fish and chip shops and potato growers. It has included the Choice Chip Awards, which recognise quality chips. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
