A third of people think tourism harms local environments, and three quarters would like information on the impact of their holiday. For Sunvil's World Travel Week broadcast PR campaign, we turned that research into a story about the growing trend for responsible travel to fragile places such as the Azores, with their whale and dolphin watching, gardens and walking trails. We put the managing director of Sunvil Holidays on air across a radio day of interviews, making the case for visiting the islands responsibly. The campaign secured 24 items of radio coverage reaching 957,000 listeners, including BBC Radio Northampton.
Sunvil wanted to promote the Azores to walkers and nature lovers and position Sunvil as the leading UK operator of responsible tourism there.
The message

About World Travel Week
World Travel Week is a week created by Relations Group for holiday and destination stories in early November, when the travel industry meets at World Travel Market in London. Tourism boards, tour operators and travel associations have all used it for radio campaigns. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
