COPD affects 1.2 million people in the UK, and cases have risen 27% in a decade. For World COPD Day, we helped Luft For Life share a hopeful message: respiratory muscles can be trained just like any other muscle. A study showed two weeks of training with the Breather increased respiratory muscle strength by 31%, against 8% in a control group, and we put Luft For Life's chief executive on air across a radio day of interviews to explain what that means for people with breathing conditions. The broadcast PR campaign secured 17 items of radio coverage reaching 2.9 million listeners, including Sky News Radio.
Luft For Life wanted to show people with breathing conditions that respiratory muscles can be trained to improve breathing.

About World COPD Day
World COPD Day is held on the third Wednesday in November. It was established in 2002 by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) to raise awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and improve care for people living with it. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
