Case study · Cyber Security Awareness Month

(ISC)²

The UK is at least 7.5% short of the cybersecurity professionals it needs, while four in ten businesses report breaches or attacks costing an average of £8,460 each. For Cyber Security Awareness Month, we turned research commissioned by (ISC)² into a story about that skills gap, with the government calling for at least 17,500 new entrants a year. We put the chief executive of (ISC)² on air across a day of radio and TV interviews, sharing practical safety advice and making the case that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, at work and at home. The broadcast PR campaign secured 11 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 3.0 million people, including GB News and Sky News Radio.

About Cyber Security Awareness Month

Cyber Security Awareness Month runs through October. It began in the US in 2004 and is co-led by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Europe holds its own European Cybersecurity Month in October, backed by ENISA and the European Commission since 2012. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
