A third of all food produced globally is wasted, yet across the UK hundreds of community fridges are putting surplus food back on people's plates. For Food Waste Action Week, we helped Hubbub tell that story: it coordinates the UK's biggest community fridge network, with over 700 fridges saving 2 million meals' worth of food every month. We put Hubbub's Head of Food on air in a radio day of interviews, with project leads from local community fridges offered to stations as case studies, explaining how the fridges share surplus food in trusted local spaces, free of stigma. The campaign secured 4 items of radio coverage reaching 1.5 million, including LBC News, BBC Radio Devon and Heart East Anglia.

About Food Waste Action Week
Food Waste Action Week is run by the climate charity WRAP through its Love Food Hate Waste campaign and has taken place each year since 2021. It works with businesses, councils and government to help people waste less food at home, saving money and cutting the harm food waste does to the planet. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
