Some people worry more about their TV than their boiler. A survey of 2,000 adults found 16% worry more about their TV packing up than a boiler giving out carbon monoxide, while 53% have no carbon monoxide alarm at home and 55% did not ask a gas engineer for qualifications. For Gas Safety Week, we built HomeServe Heating's broadcast PR campaign around getting people to service their appliances before winter and always check that their gas engineer is qualified. We put the chairman of the Gas Safety Trust and a representative of HomeServe Heating on air across a radio day of interviews. The campaign secured 17 items of radio coverage reaching 1.3 million listeners, including Clyde 1 FM.

About Gas Safety Week
Gas Safety Week is an annual UK campaign coordinated by the Gas Safe Register. It gives the gas industry, consumer groups and others one week to focus their gas safety messages, including the importance of using a Gas Safe registered engineer and having appliances checked. It began in 2011, and the 2026 week ran from 14 to 20 September with the theme Take No Chances. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
