With the cost of living at a record high, 78% of Brits were worried about their finances, yet 27% were unaware of the September phase out of 60W incandescent bulbs and a third (33%) did not know why it was happening. We built GE Lighting's broadcast PR campaign around that gap, showing households how switching to energy saving bulbs could cut their bills and dispelling the old myths about them. The director of the Ban the Bulb campaign and a lighting expert from GE Lighting went on air, alongside on-air competitions. The campaign secured 30 items of coverage, 18 interviews and 12 on-air competitions, reaching 18.6 million, including BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Breakfast TV and talkSPORT.
