Case study

Gas Safety Trust

Carbon monoxide is hard to spot, and new research found only 13% of people could correctly recognise its smell, appearance and taste, while almost half of UK homes (48%) had no audible carbon monoxide alarm. We built Gas Safety Trust's broadcast PR campaign around the dangers and symptoms of carbon monoxide and how to prevent poisoning, putting a representative of the trust on air across a radio day of interviews alongside a parent whose child died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Together they urged landlords, tenants and homeowners to have alarms and make sure appliances are correctly installed, regularly maintained and properly used. The campaign secured 87 items of radio coverage reaching 5.3 million people, including BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Radio Lancashire.
