Case study · Afternoon Tea Week

Devon Hampers

Britain drinks 165 million cups of tea a day, and with many people still at home, Devon Hampers was delivering clotted cream tea hampers to doors nationwide. For Afternoon Tea Week, we built a broadcast PR campaign around the small firm, set up in 2014, which had thrived through lockdown. We put its founder, a former RAF fighter pilot, on air across a radio day of interviews, and added on-air competitions to get listeners involved. The campaign secured 15 items of radio coverage (12 interviews and 3 on-air competitions) reaching 2.7 million listeners, including Radio News Hub and Panjab Radio.

About Afternoon Tea Week

Afternoon Tea Week is an annual UK celebration of the British afternoon tea tradition. It is promoted by the afternoon tea listings website AfternoonTea.co.uk, which dates from 2002, and venues across the UK offer special menus, offers and events during the week. It ran on 10 to 16 August in 2026. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
