Many of the UK's 16 million singles are tiring of dating apps: 59% of women and just over half of men view them negatively, and a fifth avoid them over safety fears. Ahead of Valentine's Day, we built Cupid in The City's broadcast PR campaign around that shift, as matchmaking services report a rise in customers. The matchmaker, relationship coach and director of Cupid in The City went on air across a radio day of interviews plus TV, explaining how a matchmaker saves time and introduces singles who take relationships seriously. The campaign secured 9 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 2.4 million people, including GB News, GB News Radio and BBC Radio Nottingham.
Cupid in The City wanted to position its founder as the UK's leading matchmaker and show the benefits of matchmaking over dating apps.
The message
Dating apps can feel soulless and transactional. A matchmaker saves time and effort, introduces singles who take relationships seriously and offers constructive feedback and advice.

About Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day falls on 14 February, a Sunday in 2027. As well as gifting and dating, it gives radio and TV a reason to cover relationships, money and wellbeing in the week before. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
