Case study · Safer Internet Day

Surfshark

Around 16 UK accounts were breached every minute in 2025, often without their owners realising. For Safer Internet Day, we turned Surfshark's annual study into a story: the UK ranks sixth in the world for data leaks, with 8.2 million accounts breached that year, and the average Brit has had their data exposed six times since 2004. We put Surfshark's research lead and its information security manager on air across a radio day of interviews, showing listeners that staying safe online needs awareness rather than technical expertise, starting with better password habits. The broadcast PR campaign secured 14 items of radio coverage reaching 2.6 million people, led by Sky News Radio.

About Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day began in Europe in 2004 and is led in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, a partnership of Childnet, the Internet Watch Foundation and SWGfL. It promotes safe and positive use of technology for children and young people. The 2027 theme is digital wellbeing. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
