Ahead of French Language Day, we built Learn French with Alexa's broadcast PR campaign around that gap, pointing to findings that nearly half of businesses (49%) value French skills most among their staff. We put the founder of Learn French with Alexa on air across a radio day of interviews, explaining how learning French can change lives and the best way to go about it. The campaign secured 13 items of radio coverage reaching 2.1 million listeners, including BBC Radio London.

The aim
Learn French with Alexa wanted to show how learning French can change lives, explain the best way to learn it and drive listeners to its website.
The message
French is spoken by more than 220 million people across five continents and is the second most widely learned language after English, and speaking it opens doors to jobs with multinational companies.
The angle
Ahead of French Language Day, French was pitched as one of the ten most important languages for the UK's future, spoken by around 300 million people, while just a quarter of UK adults can hold a basic conversation in another language. Nearly half of businesses (49%) value French skills most among their staff.

About French Language Day
UN French Language Day was set up by the United Nations in 2010, one of six days marking its official languages. It falls on 20 March, the date the International Organisation of La Francophonie was founded in 1970, and celebrates multilingualism and cultural diversity. For brands and charities with something useful to say, it gives radio and TV producers a timely reason to book an interview.
