High blood pressure is the largest single risk factor for stroke, yet an estimated quarter of the UK population has hypertension, half of it undiagnosed or untreated, putting 14.4 million people at risk. Working with OMRON Healthcare's PR agency for World Stroke Day, we turned those figures into a story for each station, tailoring the regional numbers to every audience. We put a practising GP and regular medical consultant for radio and TV on air across a day of radio and TV interviews, reminding over-40s they can get a free check at their local community pharmacy or check at home. The broadcast PR campaign secured 5 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 764,000 people, including GB News, BBC Radio Solent and BBC Radio Norfolk.

About World Stroke Day
World Stroke Day is held every year on 29 October and is led by the World Stroke Organization. It raises awareness of the signs of stroke and the need for fast treatment. In the UK the Stroke Association marks it with resources and survivors' stories. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
