Case study · National Grief Awareness Week

Bunches

People have turned to flowers in times of loss for thousands of years. Around National Grief Awareness Week, we built a broadcast PR campaign for Bunches on that tradition, exploring what different blooms symbolise, how colour affects mood, and research showing flowers can lift mood and reduce stress and anxiety. We put the customer experience director at Bunches on air across a radio day of interviews, giving listeners practical advice on choosing flowers that symbolise peace, remembrance or hope for someone who is grieving. The campaign secured 12 items of radio coverage reaching 2.2 million listeners, including BBC Radio WM, BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC Radio Leicester.

About National Grief Awareness Week

National Grief Awareness Week runs from 2 to 8 December every year. It was started by The Good Grief Trust to help people talk more openly about grief and bereavement and to point them towards support. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
