Case study · Children's Mental Health Week

Marvin’s Magic

The pandemic put real strain on young people, with 1 in 5 having a mental health problem. Ahead of Children's Mental Health Week, we gave Marvin’s Magic a fresh angle: learning magic can improve children's confidence, self-esteem and mood, drawing on university psychology research into children's social skills and confidence. We put the company's founder, a world-renowned magician, on air across a radio day of interviews plus TV, explaining how magic gets children interacting live with friends and family in a way computer games don't. The broadcast PR campaign secured 7 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 1.7 million, including GB News, BBC Radio WM, BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Radio Leicester.

About Children's Mental Health Week

Children's Mental Health Week was launched by the charity Place2Be in 2015. It gives children and young people a voice on their mental health and helps schools, families and employers support them. The 2027 week runs from 1 to 7 February. It gives producers a reason to cover the subject, and brands with a credible spokesperson a way onto radio and TV.
