Case study · Safer Internet Day

Avast

Countries differ on when children become digitally responsible: new research put the age at 13 in Germany and 14 and a half in the UK, while many social media sites only require users to be 13. For Safer Internet Day, we turned those findings into a story for Avast and put a cyber security expert from Avast on air across a day of radio and TV interviews. The broadcast PR campaign secured 21 items of radio and TV coverage reaching 10.1 million people, including London Live, Jazz FM, Sky News Radio and BBC Radio Scotland.

About Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day began in Europe in 2004 and is led in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, a partnership of Childnet, the Internet Watch Foundation and SWGfL. It promotes safe and positive use of technology for children and young people. The 2027 theme is digital wellbeing. Stations plan their coverage of it in advance, which makes it a strong hook for a broadcast PR campaign.
